For Your Consideration. A RARE RUGER Model RU28 single shot pistol in 256 Winchester Magnum with a 8.5″barrel. The 256 Win Mag. cartridge is essentially a 357 Mag. necked down to 25 caliber. This is a rare firearm as only 3300 were produce from 1963-64. The action is known as a rotating block, which take the place of a cylinder in what otherwise appears to be a single shot revolver. By using the plunger on the lefty side, the breech block can be turned to allow extraction of the spent case and insertion of the new round directly into the chamber which is integral with the barrel. The condition of this Ruger is stunning. Most of these Hawkeyes have frames that have turned a plum color due to age. This Hawkeye retains its deep blue color. The person I bought this Ruger from many years ago told me that it was unfired. I can not attest to it not being fired as I am not the original owner but it appears is has not been fired given its condition. I am going to rate this Ruger at 98% as there are a couple faint handling marks. This Ruger is from my private collection and has been one of my most treasured revolvers. Included with this Hawkeye is a Bushnell 1.3 power scope and original mount in their original boxes with attaching screws, hex wrench and instructions. These scopes were specifically designed for these Rugers as was the mount. The mounts are extremely rare to find and most are going for $150 to $200 if you can find one. These scopes mount on the drilled and tapped Hawkeye barrel. This revolver never had a scope mounted on it. Also included is the original box and paperwork as well as the brown paper liner. I have seen these boxes sell for over $500 empty. This box is a bit worn. I was able to find a extremely very rare original 256 Win Mag dummy round that was used for test purposes at Ruger and I will include it with the revolver. Lastly, is a custom Ruger glass cover display case with a marron velvet lining and a Ruger logo etched on the glass cover. This a complete package of a very rare Ruger. It took me several years to track down the best Hawkeye, Scope and Original mount. My work is your reward. I also have about 16 original Super X 256 Win Mag boxes of ammo (50 round boxes). The ammo is not included but available to the winning bidder for an additional charge, if desired. Shipping: The Revolver will be shipped from my FFL Dealer to your FFL Dealer via Priorty Mail.
