35 whelen ammo is a high Superformance ammunition is loaded with proprietary propellants that increase the velocity ratings up to 200 feet per second compared to other popular brands.

Because there is no increase in pressure, regardless of the caliber, there is no increase in felt recoil but there IS an increase in efficiency and high speed performance.

From sub-zero arctic temperatures to almost unbearable desert heat, Superformance ammunition can withstand any hunting condition.

Hornady makes a large variety of what might be considered “conventional” bullets.

These soft point bullets benefit from the same quality manufacturing techniques as Hornady’s premium bullets and will consistently perform at a level well above conventional.

35 Whelen Ammo history

While it was discovered that the 35 whelen ammo was invented by 1922 it was an ammo cartridge for wildcats till Remington began to sell Model 700, a

Model 700 chambered for  in 1988. It is used to hunt big game especially within North America.

While not as well-known than it’s .30-06 Springfield parent case, the bigger 35 Whelen bullets measure .358 inches/9.1 millimeters in diameter.

This makes the ballistics very different. Utilizing 180-250 gr bullets, the muzzle velocity is around 2.72 fps (feet per second) and average muzzle velocity of around 3,483 ft-lb (foot-pounds).

The range of maximum effectiveness is around 400 yards for hunting big game which makes it a great option for chasing the big game and is a favorite among handloaders.

We stock the latest factory loads from top brands such as Hornady, Federal as well as Barnes.!

Although not as widely known as its .30-06 Springfield parent case, the larger 35 Whelen bullets are .358 inches/9.1 mm in diameter, and this changes the ballistics considerably.

What is the maximum range of a 35 Whelen ammo ?

300 yards

35 Whelen, 225-grain AccuBond

Maximum point blank range on an 8-inch target is a smooth 300 yards with this 225-grain projectile.

This suggests you could hire it to hunt pronghorns and mule deer or even mountain sheep while

retaining good to excellent punch and penetration for elk, moose, and rampaging grizzlies

What is 35 Whelen ammo equivalent to?

The 35 Whelen is a necked out .30–06 which in the 1930s became a sweet spot hunting cartridge.

What are the best loads for the 35 Whelen ammo ?

35 Whelen was built by Hill Country Rifles using a Benchmark barrel.
While it shoots most bullets well, it really shines with the Barnes 200-grain TTSX and the Nosler 250-grain Partition.
While I’d choose a heavier bullet for use on a hunt for big, toothy bears, the TTSX is my magic bullet for all-around hunting.
